CMA MUSIC INSTRUCTOR POSITION DESCRIPTION

Join our network of instructors! We have openings for a Banjo Instructors at both our Buena Vista and Salida locations. Responsibilities for Music Instructor 

  • Plan and prepare lessons in relation to individual students’ needs and examination syllabuses
  • Teach music theory, aural skills and practical techniques to pupils entering and preparing pupils for examinations
  • Acquire appropriate teaching materials and resources
  • Motivate pupils and encourage progress
  • Create and maintain a network of contacts to ensure work continuity
  • Communicate with academic staff and parents
  • Ensure up-to-date knowledge and awareness of examination requirements
  • Assess pupils’ abilities, providing feedback and writing reports
  • Ensure attendance, cancellations, no show and makeup lessons for students are marked appropriately in the software system.

 

Qualifications for Music Instructor 

  • Evidence of enrollment in an accredited college/university in completing a state-approved teacher preparation program within 3 years of the date of hire or in the field experience
  • Demonstrable knowledge of music curriculum and the ability to implement it
  • Ability to interact collaboratively with students, parents, and administration
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • Confident in leading a classroom of students
  • Ability to pass a local background check
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Entrepreneur spirited 
  • Able to thrive both independently and working in a team environment

Additional Monetary Incentives: available after a 3-month contracting period

  • Camp Coletrain – first rights of refusal to teach at our annual music camp
  • Group Lessons – hourly rate + commissions for qualified classes 
  • Masterclass – host your own Masterclass and earn 70% of the total admission. (pay 30% to the venue for overhead) 
  • Video Series – 10% commissions on e-lesson series sales

 

Hourly Compensation: 

Dependent upon experience, certificates and degrees
