Based in the heart of the Rockies, our week-long flagship camp has inspired musicians of all ages for almost 10 years. Now we’re taking that same magic on the road and bringing it to music festivals across the country.
We restored a 1972 VW camper bus to bring the Camp Coletrain experience to festivals nationwide, giving kids a hands-on taste of what makes our camp so special. With a fleet of string and percussion instruments and skilled instructors by their side, children get up close with real instruments – learning to hold, strum, pick, and bow in a setting that’s equal parts fun, festy, and inspiring. Camp Coletrain was founded by Coleman Smith, founder of Coletrain Music Academy and owner and operator of two music schools in Chaffee County, Colorado. Coleman is also the fiddle player for Yonder Mountain String Band and David Lawrence & The Spoonful, and a world touring crossover artist whose passion for music education is at the heart of everything we do. Our instructors are also working performers who understand the festival world firsthand and can support your lineup in more ways than one. And for festivals looking to offer even more, we also offer curated music workshops for adults, turning your event into a full music education experience for all ages.
Partnering with Camp Coletrain Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, means your festival is directly supporting music education in rural areas for students of all ages. We are a small but mighty team with a limited number of spots available each year, so the earlier you reach out the better.
