I've been working with Leslie Jo on a wide variety of Swing, Jazz, and Texas-Style fiddle music for the past few months. Her classical violin background mixed with her hands-on experience and passion for music education has prepared her for an incredible teaching career with Coletrain Music Academy. I couldn't be more proud to have someone like Leslie Jo on our team and am thrilled for the many students that will learn from her.
- Coleman Smith, CMA Founder & Music Director
Leslie Jo began learning violin at the age of eight. She studied the Suzuki method in her youth and participated in school orchestra programs in Michigan and Texas.
She discovered fiddling in her adult years. From jams, to camps & clinics, to fiddle contests, it’s a world in which she delights to play a part. Leslie Jo studied under Keenan Fletcher, Gene Gimble, Randy Elmore, Megan Lynch Chowning, and many more. She’s most passionate about Swing, Jazz, and Texas-Style fiddle, and she’s had many unique opportunities to learn from some of the best musicians in their respective fields.
Leslie Jo also loves to sing. She sang in choir and theater throughout her youth and she’s currently a member of the Collegiate Peaks Chorale here in Buena Vista. She enjoys singing a wide variety of styles.
Leslie Jo finds great joy in encouraging others to cultivate their creative voice. She is thrilled to bring her passion and know-how to Coletrain Music Academy as a violin and vocal instructor.
