At the age of ten, Kathryn started learning guitar through a free class offered at her church. Finding that she loved to play guitar, she pursued lessons through high school and graduated college with a degree in both guitar performance & music recording and production. She then spent one year as a guitar instructor at Calvary University while pursuing a master’s. During college, she joined the University’s performing band as well as a punk rock band in Lawrence KS. Kathryn also picked up the ukulele and drums in high school and has enjoyed progressing her skills over the years. Blues, folk, punk, and rock are her favorite styles to play but she loves continuing to explore new genres.
I've had the pleasure of working with Kathryn during her CMA apprenticeship over the past few months. Kathryn's attention to detail, dedication to honing her craft and her commitment to perfecting her teaching style is most impressive. Kathryn has gone above and beyond during her apprenticeship program and I couldn't be more excited for the many students already learning from this talented multi-instrumentalist.
