Casey Houlihan

Beginner to Advanced Bass | Beginner to Intermediate Mandolin | Beginner to Intermediate Guitar | Beginner to Intermediate Voice

Casey is professional bass player, singer and songwriter. He grew up in southeastern Wisconsin and initially took to the trombone.  During his freshman year of college he discovered his voice and picked up the acoustic guitar to properly accompany himself.  Living in Minneapolis while studying as an undergraduate, Casey started playing with other like minded peers while attending shows in a flourishing musical community.  He discovered that his foundation with the trombone allowed him to transition to the electric bass with ease.  The upright would take more dedication and practice, but that came along over time.

Casey took a leap of faith, moving from Minnesota to Colorado in 2005, where he formed the beloved band Trout Steak Revival. This quintessential Colorado band won the Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Competition in 2014 and has been named Denver’s Best Bluegrass Band by Westword Magazine. The group also won an Emmy Award for their original music used in the highly praised PBS documentary called Rocky Mountains.

Casey possesses wisdom and a wealth of knowledge that can only come from the years of experience he’s gained as a touring musician. Casey teaches all levels of bass, beginner and intermediate guitar, mandolin as well as voice.
I've had the honor of both teaching and performing alongside Casey so I can tell you from first hand experience that it doesn't get much better. Casey is an All-Star Pro in every way and we could not be more honored to have him on our CMA team. - Coleman Smith, CMA Founder & Music Director
